Engineering
Math, fitting and measuring
Each Feadship design is unique. It embodies the customer's dream. As Engineers we make it realizable! This starts at De Voogt Naval Architects and continues in the workshops and at the shipyards. We calculate, fit and measure. Until everything is right.
Brainteasers
Making a design technically possible: that is the work of Engineering. Precisely because no Feadship is the same, there are always new issues and new challenges. Safety at sea - under all kinds of conditions - is a prerequisite. The work of you, as an engineer, is essential for that.
You will be part of a team where different disciplines - structural/ theoretical shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, electrical, interior, exterior - work closely together. The team fits and measures, and makes brains crackle. Until the best solution is always found, of course with all due respect for the design. As an engineer you also take into account budget and the high Feadship standard.
Advanced tools
At Feadship, we divide the engineering process into several phases. The first two are Design & Development and Final Design. In those phases, the Engineering Department uses advanced 3D tools. The team starts by collecting ideas and sketches. Then, through more detailed 3D models, strength calculations and FEM analyses, the engineers arrive at a structural design; fully custom made.
"In every project, our goal is always to deliver a well-integrated design, on time, within budget, and of high quality." - Rudie van der Bos, Project Manager Engineering De Vries Makkum
Contact with the shipyard
In subsequent phases, the engineering process becomes more and more detailed. There is then a lot of contact with the departments on site; with their input you can test your work and adjust it if necessary. Eventually you hand over the detailed drawings to the production departments; nothing better than professionals who can work with them properly.
