Caroline van 't Sant, Ada Shipyardservice
"It has to feel right three times."
"Our firm has a long history with De Vlijt," says Caroline van 't Sant of Ada Shipyardservice. "That goes back to before 2019, when we did business directly with Scheepswerf Slob. Currently, we supply electricians - through De Vlijt - to Aalsmeer and aluminum welders and sheet metal workers to Slob. Important in our cooperation? That is the reciprocity!"
"At Ada Shipyardservice we strive for the 'isosceles triangle': it has to feel right for the hiring company, for us, AND for the skilled worker. We monitor that. Our production people like working at Feadship. For the earnings, but certainly also because these are great companies, where you take pride in your work. For example, at Slob a hull is built upside down and turning it over is an impressive sight. Experiencing that, that is also the fun for employees".
"For us, a good relationship is essential," Caroline states. "We notice: that's mutual. We need each other. For example, the hiring coordinators always take the time for us. Director Esther Meulendijk? She is a tough negotiator, who in turn has to abide by the rules for all of Feadship. But I can rely on her to listen - and I'm not a person who makes light of things. Clarity we both appreciate; it's just possible."
"Because we've been doing business together for so long, we know the high Feadship standard. But it's not the only thing we sail on. Each Feadship company has its 'individuality.' We take that into account. The contact between our field service employee and the foreman at Slob in Ridderkerk dates back to the 'old days'. Most of our people come from Poland and my colleague also speaks Polish. By visiting, he gets a taste of the atmosphere. And from the hiring coordinator as well as the foreman, he hears what the yard needs."
